NEW Single Mode BACnet Communicating Thermostat

basstat 121Contemporary Controls now offers the BAST-121C, a BACnet-compliant wired or wireless communicating thermostat suitable for single-stage or multi-stage heating only or cooling only binary or analog output control applications, such as unitary heating or cooling units.

The new thermostat can control one or two stages of heating or one or two stages of Direct Expansion (DX) cooling. In addition, a single 0-10V modulated output controls a single analog heating or cooling output device.

"These capabilities, combined with the unit's configurable control algorithm and BACnet server functionality over MS/TP or Wi-Fi, make this thermostat ideal for single mode heating or cooling applications that require connectivity to a BACnet network," said Harpartap Parmar, director of product management at Contemporary Controls.

These BACnet-compliant thermostats are BTL listed to ensure effortless integration into BACnet/IP (Wi-Fi) or BACnet MS/TP (EIA-485) networks. Units are configurable using its display or via a network connection to a BACnet client. Configurable and adaptive control algorithm applied to multi-stage on/off control saves energy and ensures seamless comfort for the occupants. Three sensing options are available: built in temperature sensor, input for a remote 3 kΩ NTC temperature sensor, or temperature network command from a Building Automation System. Occupancy status and fan control can be set from thermostat buttons, a wired ESI input, or over the BACnet network.

All models feature an attractive wall-mounted enclosure with an easy-to-read LCD display that can be set for °C or °F, with graphical icons to indicate setpoint, space temperature, occupancy status, and modes of operation. The icons provide a visual indication of parameters, such as: Active Mode, Cooling stage 1 or 2, Heating stage 1 or 2, Ventilation Only, Fan Active, and Occupied/Unoccupied state. A Clock icon indicates Short Cycle Delay or Max Cycles per hour active waiting state.

Six buttons on the BASstat allow users to manipulate set point, change modes (Heat, Cool, or Ventilation), configure the fan (Auto or On), turn the thermostat ON/OFF, and more. Some or all buttons can be locked for application flexibility, making the BASstat suitable for applications where limited user control is allowed.

The BAST-121C is the fourth model in the BASstat series. All models feature BACnet server functionality over MS/TP or Wi-Fi.

  • Model BASstat221C is suited for single or multi-stage heating, cooling, and ventilation binary output control applications, such as an RTU or AHU.
  • Model BAST-321HP is suited for heating, cooling, and ventilation with binary output control for single and multi-stage heat pumps with or without 3rd stage auxiliary heat.
  • Model BAST-421C is suited for modulated heating, cooling, and ventilation with analog output control in 4-pipe applications, such as fan coil units (FCU) or air handlers.
