EIGR-C Cellular Data Plans on Verizon

Last month, we announced the availability of EIGR-C3 cellular router, approved for use on the Verizon LTE Network. It provides all the features and conveniences of the Skorpion Line of IP routers, allowing you to easily integrate the OT network within the IT infrastructure. VPN versions provide secure remote access for commissioning, troubleshooting or just gathering data from remote sites. To help with quick and easy device commissioning of the cellular router, Contemporary Controls will be offering data plans to provision the cellular router on the Verizon network.

The EIGR-C3 cellular router comes with a Verizon SIM pre-installed. Data plan options for 1GB, 3GB and 5GB monthly use are available. Depending on the application requirement, a plan that allows data overage (with overage charges) or a plan that prevents overages by shutting down data after reaching a monthly data limit can be selected. In the case of no overage charge, data is resumed automatically at the start of next monthly billing cycle. Static IP options are also available if required.

"The need for a VPN capable cellular network router has never been greater", said Harpartap Parmar, Senior Product Manager. "For organizations that have highly distributed assets and critical infrastructure, remote, real-time monitoring, control and management can significantly enhance operational efficiency."

Deploying a secure, reliable and high performance IIoT solution is vital. Monitoring and managing remote infrastructure is challenging. It's unmanned, it's critical to business operations and often in remote areas where undetected problems can lead to disaster. Giving operations real-time awareness with remote monitoring is essential. Many organizations rely on mobile workers that need access to the same tools available at the office. These tools need to be accessible anytime, anywhere—even for workers in vehicles, on the move and at remote or temporary work sites.

The EIGR-C3 VPN Router allows cellular, secure VPN connection in all the situations above. It also has an Ethernet port that can act as the WAN if cellular access is not required. The built-in stateful firewall passes communication initiated on the LAN-side while blocking WAN-side initiated communication. With Port Address Translation (PAT), LAN-side clients can access the Internet. The EIGR-C3 incorporates a real-time clock and OpenVPN client functionality compatible with the Cloud-VPN service from Contemporary Controls (RemoteVPN). The EIGR-C3 operates over a 0 to 60°C temperature range and the EIGR-C3X operates over the −40 to +75°C range.
