New BAScontrol22C with BACnet Client Capability

BAScontrol22CThe BAScontrol22 field proven unitary controller provides direct digital control for building automation and energy management applications. While optimized for HVACR applications, it can also be configured as a BACnet networked I/O controller with direct Ethernet connection. It is ideal for unitary control of equipment or distributed control throughout larger facilities. Its rugged metal enclosure, low device profile, and outdoor temperature operation of -40°C to +75°C make it ideal for indoor or outdoor applications.

We are pleased to announce the release of the BAScontrol22C which now supports BACnet client capability in addition to the existing server functionality. Most BACnet devices are servers, which do not initiate requests to other BACnet devices other than an initial "I-Am" broadcast when first joining the network. BACnet clients (like the BAScontrol22C) can initiate requests and expect BACnet servers to respond to requests as data is exchanged.

The BAScontrol22C supports BACnet/IP Client and Server functionality using a 2-port Ethernet switch connection. The controller complies with the B-ASC device profile having a convenient mix of 8 universal inputs, 4 binary inputs, 4 analog outputs, and 6 relay outputs. In addition to 22 physical points, the BAScontrol22 has 24 Virtual Points for use in wire sheet and data exchange with BACnet supervisors.

The BAScontrol22C utilizes BACnet client functionality in addition to its standard BACnet server functions. It can read and/or write other device points over the BACnet network as well as serve BACnet points to supervisors simultaneously. BACnet device points are brought into the into the BAScontrol22C's Sedona wire sheet and writes can be executed based on logic performed in the controller. Points can be scaled and/or converted to different data types, written to other BACnet devices, served up to supervisory controllers or operator workstations (using Virtual Components), as well as displayed on the BAScontrol22C's webpage.

The BAScontrol22C uses its direct Ethernet ports to communicate to BACnet/IP devices on the network. With the help of a BASrouter – BACnet/IP to BACnet MS/TP router – the BAScontrol22C can communicate and interface with BACnet MS/TP devices as well.
