Product Overview |
 |
iSNMP
allows the entire system and the network to be monitored from one
HMI screen or one OPC-compliant application. By utilizing the management
features of Contemporary Controls managed switches, iSNMP can monitor
the link state of each port of the switch, the amount of traffic
being carried by the switch on a port-by-port basis, the number
of network errors on a port-by-port basis, the internal temperature
of the switch, the status of the RapidRing and over 100 other SNMP data elements available from Contemporary
Controls' managed switches.
iSNMP is an OPC 2.0 server that allows HMI software packages to
monitor the network. iSNMP can pass SNMP data resident in our managed
switches, to any OPC compliant application. OPC client applications
include Wonderware InTouch, Cimplicity HMI, Intellution iFix, Siemens
WinCC, Iconics and Rockwell Software RSView.
This information can be used by the operator to help diagnose network
problems or system problems from the HMI. Having the network status
located in the same screen as the system status can make it convenient
for the user to diagnose problems that exist in both the network
and the system.
iSNMP
can also monitor other non-managed Ethernet connected devices such
as PLCs, computers, printers, etc. and provide the status of these
devices to the HMI.
The
iSNMP devices can be automatically discovered and the appropriate
monitored data values can be selected. iSNMP also supports the reception
of SNMP traps from SNMP-managed devices. These traps are sent when
links are lost or new links are made or when power is cycles on
a device.
The
iSNMP package includes a sample OPC client which can be used to
view MIB data from the iSNMP OPC server.
The
Basic Edition incorporates all features mentioned above while the
Expert Edition extends the functionality of iSNMP.
The
Expert Edition offers more features such as the Network Analyst
which can collect SNMP information and provide calculated values
such as bandwidth utilization. It also helps create configuration
for SNMP-supported devices such as printers and other non-Contemporary
Controls' devices.
