On September 21, 2006, the ODVA held a free EtherNet/IP seminar in the Rosemont suburb of Chicago, IL. Four engineers from Contemporary Controls attended, including Joe Stasiek pictured below.

Most Industrial Ethernet networks are modified for a specific application and they differ in language, data handling and Ethernet devices. EtherNet/IP™ (promoted by ODVA) fully complies with Ethernet and Internet standards and uses the media-independent industrial protocol, Common Industrial Protocol - or CIP™.

Seminar subjects included overviews of Industrial Ethernet, CIP and EtherNet/IP -- and a roadmap for EtherNet/IP development in the areas of safety and motion.
