How Much Industrial Ethernet Uses Fiber?
A recent survey asked what percentage of Industrial Ethernet equipment has at least one fiber port. All of the respondents reported the use of at least some communication over fiber optic cable. About one third claimed less than 25% of their switches had fiber ports. Another third said that between 50-75% of their switches had fiber ports. Roughly one quarter of respondents have greater than 75% of their equipment using fiber ports. And a mere 5% said that 25-49% of their switches had one or more fiber ports.
